Astroneer
Astroneer is a sandbox adventure game developed by System Era Softworks. An early access version of the game was released on December 16, 2016, and a 1.0 version of the game was released on February 6, 2019. The player is tasked with colonizing planets, creating structures, and mining resources. Astroneer has no set goal or storyline, though each planet holds challenges for players to complete. Astroneer is a sandbox adventure game played from a third-person view. Its open world planets, wherein terraforming can take place, are subject to procedural generation; with the exception of some planet specific resources. The player controls an astronaut (called an astroneer) who navigates on foot, or by lunar rover or spacecraft. Crafting Crafting extends to vehicles, spacecraft, modules (smelted into core components), and oxygen reserve tanks. Ammonium is converted into hydrazine fuel for the astroneer's spacecraft. When low on oxygen, the astroneer recharges by tethering to poles in the ground; the tethers are extendable if attached in succession (possible after collecting the compound resource) to either a home base structure or land vehicle; as of the game's full release, an "oxygenator" is required in a home base to provide extended reach of oxygen when tethering. This tool can also be attached to a medium or large rover to provide O2 on the go, too. There is also a portable oxygenator which can be carried by a player to be self-sufficient and unrestrained (this requires a nanocarbon alloy to make). Mining A mining tool allows the player to unearth resources, reshape landscapes, and illuminate dark spaces. Solar panels and generators, as well as tethers, recharge the backpack crafting tool and power various accessories (such as lights) on the player character, they (excepting the tethers) also recharge vehicle batteries and base structures. The astroneer can die from suffocation, impact with storm debris, and hostile plants (which can spew poisonous gas that tracks the player, shoot spikes, and launch the player into the air), and also certain collision errors. Single-player and co-op modes, up to four players, are supported, with 8-player co-op and dedicated servers planned. One can also use a vehicular drill mod, up to three advanced mining tool mods, or explosives for better mining.
